"Vida, a powerful samodiva, a female nymph, of the Pirin mountains, accidentally shot and killed the beautiful male singer, Ivë. When she saw what she had done, she cried a single tear, which formed an enchanted lake." - Myth of Vida's Tear Lake
Magus Hristo
Description
Of average build and plain countenance there is something slightly bestial about this magus. His long and unkempt hair is shot through with streaks of grey and his skin is lined and weathered. His canines are perhaps just a little longer than seems natural and there is just a hint of animal in his eyes. His hands are rough and calloused but move with a deftness of touch that is surprising. He dresses in simple garb when within the covenant, wearing leather armour with a wolf skin cloak when he ranges beyond its boundaries.
Personality
Hristo prefers the wilds to the company of men and when within the covenant he tends to confine himself to his own sanctum save for when the bell rings. He can be aggressive when disturbed and his self belief more often manifests as arrogance. His only close relationship seems to be with Ioanna and even this is often punctuated with grumpiness and on occasion savage criticism. Beyond the covenant he travels widely in the form of a wolf and he will often spend large periods of the year far away from Vida's Tear.
Magic
Hristo's heartbeast takes the form of a wolf and he is well skilled in the art of Animal. Even greater however is his mastery of Corpus and as well as a variety of transformation spells he is an accomplished healer. His gift is extremely strong and even with the protection of a parma magica there is a sense that there is something dangerous and bestial about him.
Current views on the other magi
- Maga Mestitia
- My brothers are wary of those of House Merinita but this young maga seems to be different from many of her sodales. True she is the most repulsive creature I have ever set my eyes upon but I am prepared to bide my time before reaching a judgement. I know something of the fae that are to be found in the woods beyond this covenant and I think I shall share a little of my knowledge in order to see her character more truly.
- Magus Gelidus
- I was not keen on a Flambeau being brought to the covenant but at least Ioanna didn't bring some hot-headed fool who can think of nothing but burning everything that he meets. Indeed there is something refreshing about him in that he speaks so little and he has shown a certain willingness to listen to his elders. If he avoids killing himself in some unwinnable fight he may prove useful in time to come.
- Magus Laertes
- This covenant needed new blood but the cost was that we had to accept this Tremere and I would be happier by far if he was not a member of our council. His House has sought to dominate the order once before and I for one do not believe that they have given up on their efforts. His placement here can only be part of some scheme and he will not learn my secrets. Ionna tells me that I have been too harsh with him since his arrival and I will try to temper my dislike somewhat but if he is ever false to his sodales he will have my wrath to deal with.
- Magus Lucca
- An excellent recruit and one who will be welcome to make use of those resources that I can provide to help him develop his craft. He seems to have been of some use already to his sodales and I look forward to the day when his art is sufficient to create items of value to this covenant and a new longevity ritual for myself.
- Magus Loquellamedes
- A member of House Criamon would not have been my first choice to bolster our number, nor even my second or third, given the nature of the threats that we face here in the wilderness but Ioanna thinks given time he may prove to be of some use; although in truth I find it hard to imagine what. Still, given his House's reputation for secrets at least I shouldn't expect to find him trying to poke around in my affairs.
- Maga Ioanna
- A long history I have had with Ioanna and as the years pass I respect her more and more. Despite her tendency to seek to aggravate me when she is bored this covenant would have died years ago without her efforts and I am comfortable with her belief that she is our council's leader, as long as she is never so foolish as to abuse the trust that I have in her.
